The original US fighting force was formed out of volunteers to defend the colonies against the British. On the anniversary of the creation of the US Army, the contributions and achievements of the Army will be celebrated with events and ceremonies.

The United States Army celebrates its birthday, the anniversary of its creation, on June 14th of every year.

The first US Army was formed on June 14 of 1775 with the aim of protecting the Northern colonies from British troops. Some of the original militias still exist today.
