Bird Day - 2021-05-04
What is Bird Day?
Bird lovers and bird watchers around the world each year celebrate National Bird Day on January 5th. It’s one of several bird-themed holidays. The Born Free USA organization encourages individuals to consider the issues surrounding birds on National Bird Day. People can learn about the importance of protecting both captive and wild birds, as well as the plight faced by many species. The conservation nonprofit Born Free USA has found that more than 10 percent of the world’s bird species are threatened by extinction. More than 500,000 people are celebrating National Bird Day by learning about birds, watching them, and educating others. Some of the most popular activities are bird-watching, bird-studying, and adopting birds. Adopting a bird is an especially important activity.
