What is Chanukah Begins?
Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. It began 2,000 years ago. The festival is also known as the Festival of Lights because it commemorates when Jews lit lamps for eight days and nights to honor and remember what they did. Hanukkah is celebrated in several ways. In addition to lighting each day one candle on the menorah, religious rituals can include the daily reading of Scripture, recitation of some of the Psalms, almsgiving, and singing of a special hymn.

Chanukah begins Sunday evening, November 28, 2021 and continues through Monday, December 6, 2021.

The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which means “dedication” in Hebrew, usually falls in November or December.
