What is Day With(out) Art Day?
Day Without Art was first proclaimed to honor the memory of those who lost their lives during this time period. It has since become an annual day where people across America pause on December 1st in order to express their grief and outrage about what's happening with regard to global HIV/AIDS pandemics. It has been 30 years since the first AIDS related death. Today, we commemorate this day by remembering those who have passed away. Artists, galleries, organizations, and museums across the country cover their art in black cloth, shut their doors to the public, and mourn the loss of so much great art.
When is Day With(out) Art Day?
On December 1st, the day that co-occurs with National AIDS Day and marks a time to remember those who have lost their lives due to this epidemic in America.
