What is Dewey Decimal System Day?
The Dewey Decimal Classification system, colloquially known as the Dewey Decimal System, is a library classification system that allows new books to be added to a library in their appropriate location based on subject. It was first published by Melvil Dewey in 1876. There are ten main Dewey classes or “centuries.”

100 Philosophy & psychology
200 Religion
300 Social sciences
400 Language
500 Science
600 Technology
700 Arts & recreation
800 Literature
900 History & geography
And then each main class is divided into 10 sections or hundred divisions.
