Faux Fur Friday - 2021-12-03
What is Faux Fur Friday?
Each year at the first Friday in December, fashionistas celebrate faux fur day. They wear faux fur or purchase it to share their love for the material. Faux fur is also known as fake fur. It made its debut in 1929. Animal fur was made from alpaca wool at first. The warm material was made of synthetic fibers later, increasing the variety of textures and colors. Faux fur insulates less but lasts longer than animal fur. Many people choose faux fur to avoid encouraging the real fur industry. Spotted cats and seals are often targeted for their coats. The tanning process for preserving real fur involves harsh chemicals. These can pollute the environment. People have been wearing animal furs for thousands of years. And now, faux fur is a trend that is here to stay. Do something different and fun. Host a faux fur party as a throwback to the 1970s. Or, wear your faux fur coat to walk in the rain. Just make sure you have an umbrella to keep it dry.
