Festivus - 2021-12-23
What is Festivus?
In the TV show Seinfeld, Festivus takes place on Dec. 23. However, people have been celebrating the holiday all throughout December since the episode aired in 1997. In protest of Christmas’ commercialism, George Costanza’s father, Frank Costanza, puts up an unadorned aluminum pole instead of a tree. The metal has a “very high strength-to-weight ratio.” A Festivus dinner is served before the Feats of Strength competition, where the head of the household must be pinned in a wrestling match under the Festivus pole.
