What is Great American Smokeout?
Quitting smoking is not easy. It takes time. And a plan. You don’t have to quit in one day but start with the first day of your journey toward a smoke-free life by participating in the Great American Smokeout event on November 18th. You are not alone in wanting to quit smoking. Hundreds of thousands of smokers across the country have taken the important step toward a healthier life by quitting smoking. The American Cancer Society can help you access the resources and support you need to quit smoking, including free counseling services whether you are an individual considering quitting or a healthcare professional interested in our programs for your patients. The American Cancer Society can tell you about the steps to take in order to quit smoking and help you find information, resources, and support so that you can increase your chances of quitting successfully.
When is Great American Smokeout?
Great American Smokeout event is on the third Thursday in November, this year it falls on November 18th.
History of Great American Smokeout
The concept of the Great American Smokeout stems from a 1970 event in Randolph, Massachusetts.
