What is Greenpeace Day?
Fighting for the rights for those that cannot: Greenpeace is an international organization of activities that bring awareness to environmental crises worldwide. Founded in 1971 by 17 activists protesting nuclear testing on Alaskan shores, Greenpeace now operates in every country to work for preservation, conservation, and environmental justice. Greenpeace Day raises awareness for societies' need for peaceful protest to make changes to improve air quality, reduce reliance on fossil fuels and the use of plastics, improve water quality. History of Greenpeace Day
Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by 17 activists on board the Phyllis Cormack, who hoped to stop nuclear testing in Alaskan waters. They were not successful, but their desire for change sparked a fire that became the Greenpeace organisation.
