National Amaretto Day - 2022-04-19
What is National Amaretto Day?
April 19th is National Amaretto Day. The liqueur, known around the world for its flavor and aroma, is to be celebrated. The Amaretto name comes from the Italian word amaro, meaning “bitter.” Amaretto uses bitter almonds or apricot kernels to infuse in alcohol, which results in a strong almond flavor. Because of its complex taste, this liqueur is considered very fragrant. Amaretto is a liquor that is made with almonds, apricot, and peach pits and is distilled from those fruits and nuts before being sweetened. It is popularly served on its own over ice, blended into cocktails such as the Amaretto Sour or the Amaretto Alexander, or used in cooking. This drink is delicious on its own or used to make cocktails and desserts. It's a staple of many cultures and has an ancient history behind it. We should celebrate this liquor and give it a special day!
