National Baked Scallops Day - 2021-03-12
What is National Baked Scallops Day?
March 12th is National Baked Scallops Day. Scallops are popular seafood that can be cooked and served in many ways. Scallops are ubiquitous in the world’s oceans and very popular. They are a key shellfish in the world economy and are eaten widely. The scallop is an amazing sea creature. Most of us are familiar with the delicious white medallion part of the scallop, but there are other parts that are edible too. The adductor or “white medallion” is the most popular part of the scallop, but there are two other parts that are also edible. The coral or the roe is usually discarded before the scallop is sold at the market because it may contain toxins. But sometimes it's sold attached to the adductor muscle, and this little piece is a delicacy in parts of the world. But be careful! If you eat it, you might get sick.
