August 25 - National Banana Split Day

What Is National Banana Split Day?

A banana split is a popular sundae that involves a scoop each of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream served in between a longwards-sliced banana. The sundae is topped with crushed pineapple, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, crushed nuts, and whipped cream. Banana splits were invented by David Evans Strickler, who worked for Tassel’s Pharmacy in 1904. They were sold for 10 cents and became hugely popular among customers, finally making their way all across America, and then the world! On this national day, it should be illegal to *not* have a banana split! Whether you make it yourself at home or buy one from your favourite ice cream parlour, invite a friend or two to share with you and turn it into a great memory making experience.
