August 22 - National Bao Day

What Is National Bao Day?

Bao is a simple Chinese steamed bun, filled with meat, vegetables, or sweet fillings. With such a huge range of filling options, it is no wonder that they’re so widely loved! Bao can be eaten for any meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, or even just a snack. The dough is soft and pliable, and the method of steaming to cook makes the dough chewy and delicious. Bao are usually palm sized, to be eaten in two or three bites, but there is a new trend towards making them unusually large. It is cultural to share bao at a meal, so invite a friend or two over and have a bao tasting party!

When Is National Bao Day?

National Bao Day is celebrated on August 22nd.

History Of National Bao Day

National Bao Day was founded by Wow Bao to celebrate the ancient Chinese tradition of making and sharing bao with family and friends, and to raise awareness of the large variety of bao restaurants making their way around the US.
