Beans and hotdogs are a simple recipe popular at summertime parties and barbecues. Believed to have been invented sometime after the 1890's, it comprises cut up hotdogs cooked in a sauce with some baked beans. The franks can be any kind of meat; beef or pork, or both. Most of the seasoning in this dish comes from the spices inside the cured meat but the sauce also includes brown sugar, barbecue sauce, and some spices. Serve with coleslaw, grilled corn, or french fries and a glass of your favourite cold drink.
