Like some other spirits, Bourbon has specific production requirements that must be met in order for it to be considered Bourbon. In 1964, the American Congress designated Bourbon as "America's native spirit", and since then there is no other country in the world that can produce whiskey and call it Bourbon.

National Bourbon Day recognises a classic American alcohol on June 14th.
