National Brandied Fruit Day - 2021-10-20
What is National Brandied Fruit Day?
October 20th is National Brandied Fruit Day. It honors the delicious food holiday. Fruit preserved with brandy has been around for a long time. During the Victorian era, people discovered that adding brandy to fruit preserved it and also created a delicious dessert. The process of preserving fruit with brandy also preserves the flavor of freshly harvested fruit while creating a delicious dessert. Brandied fruit is created by soaking fresh fruit in brandy, sugar, and spices. After the initial preparation, the fruit will rest for 30 days. Then it is ready to top desserts, pies, and cakes. Interestingly, brandied fruit is used as a starter for Friendship Cake. It takes time to get your starter going, but once it’s done, you’ll have the tastiest bread you’ve ever had. Friendship Cake is one of the most delicious treats around.
