National Candy Cane Day - 2021-12-26
What is National Candy Cane Day?
"Legend has it that the candy cane dates back to 1670, when choirmasters at Cologne Cathedral in Germany handed out sugar sticks among their young singers. To keep them quiet during an important ceremony - like Living Creche Day- he bent these candies into shepherds' crooks." The first white candy cane was created in 1847 by August Imgard, who decorated small blue spruce with paper ornaments and candies. It came to be known as the Wooster Stick after its debut there on Christmas Eve of that same year - it remains one of America's most treasured symbols despite having been copied many times over since then!
