National Cheddar Day - 2022-02-13
What is National Cheddar Day?
Today is National Cheddar Day! Cheddar cheese is a famous cheese in the United States. It is a hard, sharp-tasting, natural cheese that carries a pungent flavor. What separates it from other cheeses is how it is treated after the heating process. Cheddar cheese is a result of a process called cheddaring which involves stacking the cheese curds atop one another and squeezing out the extra whey. The result is a denser, crumbly texture. Cheddar cheese originated in Somerset, England around the 12th century. Today, 1/3 of all cheese sold in the United States is cheddar. Cheddar Day was created by Tillamook as a way to bring people together and celebrate this delicious cheese. It occurs on February 13th every year.
