National Cocoa Day - 2021-12-13

What is National Cocoa Day?
The winter holidays are here and so is National Cocoa Day! This day commemorates the deliciousness of cocoa. It’s the perfect way to warm up after a cold day outside.
In the United States, we make a hot drink by mixing cocoa powder with milk or water and sugar. However, this is not the same as hot chocolate, which is a different drink made with solid chocolate. We heat up milk and add chocolate to it. This is drinking chocolate.
We make hot cocoa from cocoa powder. We first ferment, dry, roast, and grind cocoa beans to produce a paste called chocolate liquor. We then separate the cocoa butter from the cocoa powder to make hot chocolate. This process has been altered to leave little fat and few calories.
When is National Cocoa Day?
