March 13th is National Coconut Torte Day, a special holiday where coconut lovers can celebrate the flavor. Coconut Torte is a decadent dessert with the flavor of coconut in it. It's also decorated with coconut flakes. This holiday can be celebrated by eating rich dessert. Torte is a baked good and a type of cake. A torte is a multi-layered cake filled with buttercream, jam, or cream and a dense, moist, and rich single-layered cake. The name is from the German word for cake. A torte may be made with little to no flour as well as ground nuts or breadcrumbs as well as sugar, eggs, and flavorings. Coconuts first appeared in the United States in the early 1700s, but they were not native to the country. Eating coconuts was popular then as it is now. There are many recipes for baked goods that include coconuts, so they must have been very popular back then too.  

National Coconut Torte Day is celebrated annually on March 13th!
