There are two theories about where sweet potatoes originated. Some say Central America, while others believe it was South America. Central Americans domesticated sweet potatoes at least 5,000 years ago. Ancient Peruvian sweet potato remnants dating back to 8,000 BC have been found in South America. Sweet potatoes are versatile. You can use them in a salad or as the main ingredient of a casserole. They are delicious in rolls or served with eggs, sugar, and cinnamon. Sweet potatoes can also be made into quesadillas or pudding.
