Today is National Create A Vacuum Day (NCTVD). Can you create a complete vacuum? A vacuum is an empty space where the pressure inside is lower than the pressure outside. What would happen if you could create an entire vacuum? An entire vacuum is impossible, but you can make a partial vacuum. A simple way to create a partial vacuum at home is by using a syringe. By plugging up the open end of the syringe and pulling back on the plunger, you can create a vacuum that is mostly free of matter, although there will always be some microscopic particles that remain.
