Cupcakes are one-of-a-kind. Whether they are covered in frosting, sprinkles, ganache, or chocolate, they are perfect for any occasion. Cupcakes have evolved from just chocolate and vanilla to fulfill all of our dessert dreams and fantasies. It is thought that the first-ever reference to a cake to be baked in small cups’ was in Amelia Simmons’ ‘American Cookery’ in 1796. The first reference to the word ‘cupcake’ is said to be from a 19th-century American author named Eliza Leslie in her cookbook 'Receipts A cupcake is a small cake designed to serve one person. Cupcakes are typically baked in paper or aluminum cups, just like larger cakes. Frosting and other cake decorations such as fruit and candy may be applied to fit the occasion.  

Each year on December 15th we celebrate National Cupcake Day with a cupcake or two.
