National Decency Day is the day where we encourage people to treat each other with the most basic civility that all humans are entitled to. Decency offers an opportunity to be better role models for our children. If we can all be civil with one another, we are setting the right example. The movement aims to raise awareness for how we treat each other by integrating decency into school curriculums and office environments.

National Decency Day is observed on May 14th of every year.

Lisa Cholnoky, a New York City-based parent and graphic designer, established National Decency Day in 2019 continuing a dialogue sparked by her motivation two years prior. The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed National Decency Day to be observed on May 14th annually.
