Pizza. It's the most universally beloved food, but it is also so incredibly divisive. New Yorkers and Chicagoans argue about their favorite style of pizza. The most contentious of these divisions is the one between New York-style slices and deep-dish pies. Pizza is an Italian dish is made of dough, tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings. It's believed to have originated in Greece, where people would cover their bread with herbs. Modern pizza has its origins in Naples, Italy. The most original pizza contains mozzarella cheese, which is the highest quality buffalo mozzarella variant produced in Naples. A popular variation of this is deep dish pizza, which contains generous amounts of toppings, sauce, and cheese. Deep dish pizza was invented in the midwestern United States in the 1940s. It became a popular food because of its delicious taste and great texture. Because of its success, it inspired many other restaurants to make their own deep dish pizzas.  

National Deep Dish Pizza Day is celebrated on April 5 of every year.
