National Frankenstein Friday - 2021-10-29
What is National Frankenstein Friday?
Frankenstein Friday, the last Friday of October, celebrates Mary Shelley and her novel Frankenstein. Dr. Frankenstein and his monster are well-known horror characters in literature. Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1818. The novel is about a scientist who creates a creature. It was written as a horror story, but scholars have interpreted it as a criticism of the scientific revolution and the Industrial Revolution. In 1910, Thomas Edison's studio made a one-reel, 15-minute film of Frankenstein. It was thought to be lost until it was rediscovered in the 1980s.
