Friendships are an amazing thing. Friends are a very uniquely special thing about human beings that allow us to forge deep and meaningful relationships with people who start off as complete strangers! Whether you meet at school, work, or in your neighbourhood somehow, all of us have been lucky enough to have felt the warmth of a good friendship. On National Friendship Day, take some time to reach out to some old friends you haven’t spoken to in a while. If you’re interested in it, try making some some new ones too! The more, the merrier.
When Is National Friendship Day?
The first Sunday in August is the day we observe National Friendship Day, encouraging creating new connections and reconnecting with old ones.
History Of National Friendship Day
Hallmark originally founded National Friendship Day in 1919 as a marketing strategy. to get people to celebrate friendship by sending each other cards. Soon, the market was no longer profitable and the day faded away. In 1998, Winnie the Pooh was named the World’s Ambassador of Friendship and the day was resurrected, to be celebrated on August 1st of each year.
