National Frozen Custard Day - 2021-08-08
What is National Frozen Custard Day?
Frozen custard is made similarly to ice cream: a cream and sugar base, but with the addition of eggs to make it extra creamy and delicious. Frozen custard also comes in a variety of flavours, such as vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. Frozen custard was invented by Archie and Elton Kohr on Coney Island, in New York, in the year 1919. The brothers found that adding eggs to the mixture made the dessert creamier and allowed it to stay cold longer. Soon after its invention, frozen custard became a nationwide favorite and a popular summer treat.
