Granola entered the mainstream in the early 70s when General Mills introduced a granola cereal—Natural Valley Granola. After finding out that people were eating it as finger food, they introduced a dry and crunchy granola bar under the same name. Granola bars are a convenient snack for people on the go. These snacks consist of granola mixed with honey or other sweetened syrup, pressed and baked into a bar shape. The bars are packaged individually in sealed pouches, even when purchased in boxes of multiple bars.

Each year on January 21st we celebrate National Granola Bar Day!
