National Gumdrop Day - 2021-02-15
What is National Gumdrop Day?
Gumdrops are a type of candy. They are brightly colored gum-based pieces, shaped like a narrow dome, often coated in granulated sugar and having fruit and spice flavors; the latter are also known as spice drops. The first gumdrop was created in 1801 by Percy Trusdale. At first, gumdrops were flavored with spices: yellow (allspice), red (cinnamon), green (spearmint), purple (anise), white (wintergreen or peppermint), and black (licorice). The gumdrop, which was created in the late 19th century, is now popular around the world. It is believed that an Ohio candy maker named Percy Truesdell invented the modern gumdrop in 1915.
