National Human Trafficking Awareness Day - 2022-01-11
What is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day?
Human Trafficking is the process of exploiting people through force, deception, or coercion for financial gain. People don’t have to be transported across borders to be trafficked. In fact, transporting or moving the victim doesn’t define trafficking. People can be trafficked in many forms, including being forced into sexual exploitation, labor, begging, crime , domestic servitude, marriage, or organ removal. Estimates suggest that about 50,000 people are trafficked into the US each year. In 2018, over half (51.6%) of the criminal human trafficking cases active in the US were sex trafficking cases involving only children.
