What is National Illinois Day?
Illinois was the 21st state to join the Union on December 3, 1818. National Illinois Day is observed a few days later, this year on December 7, 2019. It’s a global city and the third most populous in the US. It’s also filled with some of the best cultural attractions, opportunities for culinary exploration, and sporting events in the country.
The state of Illinois is known for many different things, including the numerous towns and cities it has, the people who live there, and its natural beauty.
Illinois has produced some of the most influential politicians in our country’s history. Abraham Lincoln is one of the biggest names on that list. He was one of our country's first presidents and helped abolish slavery during his time in office. Another big name from Illinois is Barack Obama.
