Lobster Newburg day on March 25 is a celebration worthy of a sea captain. In 1876, a sea captain named Ben Wenburg invented a rich and elegant dish that would become a staple of high-end cuisine. While on a voyage, Captain Wenburg showed the recipe to his chef friend Charles Delmonico, who modified it and added it to the menu at Delmonico’s Restaurant in New York. The dish was an immediate hit, However, a conflict between Wenburg and Delmonico caused the dish to disappear from the menu. After many requests from patrons, the dish was brought back as 'Lobster Newburg'. Lobster Newburg has been around for over 150 years. It's even more popular now than it was then. You can enjoy this dish today just as people did way back when.
