National Lottery Day - 2021-07-17
What is National Lottery Day?
A lottery is a game in which you pay a certain amount of money to enter a draw in which you stand a chance to win all sorts of prizes. Going back to the origins of the game, lotteries seem to have been invented sometime around the 15th century. The funds raised by them were used to pay for food and clothing for the poor, and cannons during the American Revolution. Modern lotteries are run by the state and they use the money to fund government programs and underfunded communities. National Lottery Day encourages all of us to appreciate the contributions made by those who partake in and organise lotteries, and maybe even to get involved ourselves.
