National Maryland Day - 2021-08-24

What is National Maryland Day?
Maryland is situated along the coast of the US, meaning it has played a huge part in the maritime heritage of the state, such as the battle in Baltimore during the War of 1812. A witness of the battle later used the experience to write the national anthem! Maryland is also where Captain John Smith landed and explored the Chesapeake Bay and Naticoke River. Smith documented his experiences with the Native American people and taught a lot about their cultures, plant life, animal life, and more. On National Maryland Day, plan a weekend trip up to visit some of the historical museums and battlefields the state has to offer, or learn about them from the comfort of your home.
When is National Maryland Day?
