Michigan is a state in the Great Lakes region of the upper Midwestern United States. It is bordered to the south by Ohio and Indiana, to the west by Wisconsin and to the north by Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. The capital is Lansing, while Detroit and Grand Rapids are each major cities. Michigan is known for fishing thanks to its 3,288-mile coastline. The Upper Peninsula covers 90 percent of the state with trees, which are harvested for wood products.

National Michigan Day is celebrated annually on January 18th!
