National Mulled Wine Day on March 3rd is a special day to celebrate with wine and spices. The hot beverage warms us up and fills our homes with an inviting smell. Mulled wine is a beverage that's been heated and spiced. It's usually made with red wine, which is then blended with various spices, fruits, and sometimes slightly sweetened with honey. The most popular blends include cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus, vanilla, anise, cloves, raisins or pears. The warm spices and alcohol of the classic mulled wine are a welcome reprieve from the cold winter weather. They have long been used as a balm against illness during cold and flu season.
