Nachos are one of the most popular dishes in the US. It’s a dish that was created by a Mexican restaurant employee, who wanted to use up the extra ingredients on hand. The first nacho recipe appeared in 1966, after tortillas were fried and then topped with cheese and jalapeno peppers. In the 1940s, a new type of food was created. The dish became popular in America and started to spread through the country. In 1949, it was first mentioned in English print in a cookbook that gave credit to the original creator.  

We celebrate National Nachos Day on November 6th annually.
