What is National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day?
National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is observed annually on March 20. This day aims at increasing awareness and starting conversations about HIV and AIDS in American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities. It also showcases the work being done to reduce HIV and AIDS in these communities and support people with HIV.
You can raise awareness of HIV in the American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities and provide information on access to care.
Do you know that American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians are at higher risk of contracting HIV than the rest of the population? You can help us to raise awareness. You can use CDC’s tools to do that.

In 2006, the National Native CBA Network proposed National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day to the National Congress of American Indians. They held the first observance in 2007.
