National Nebraska Day - 2022-04-05
What is National Nebraska Day?
Today is Nebraska Day! Celebrate it by combining Dorothy Lynch dressing with chili, cinnamon rolls, and Kool-Aid. Then, enjoy the game while watching the Cornhuskers. On April 5, Nebraska will commemorate its statehood by preserving its majestic landmarks. Nebraska joined the United States on March 1, 1867, when it became the 37th state in the Union. Pioneers traveling by wagon trains used Scotts Bluff as a landmark on their journey westward. Nebraska is named after the Oto Indian word “nebrathka,” meaning “flat water.” This name originally referred to Nebraska’s Platte River. Nebraska is a midwestern state with an agricultural history. It produces corn, wheat, and soybeans. Its nickname is the Cornhusker State. Nebraska’s terrain includes the Great Plains, sand dunes, and rocky hills.
