National Nougat Day - 2021-03-26
What is National Nougat Day?
On March 26th, the world celebrates the deliciousness of nougat. Nougat is often hard or soft and can be found in the center of candy bars. Many people love nougat's soft texture, but others enjoy its crunchiness. Nougat is a candy made of whipped egg whites, sugar, nuts, and sometimes fruit. It originated in ancient Rome and may have been enjoyed by many ancient civilizations. It has been enjoyed all throughout time and is still enjoyed today. Some like it alone, but most like it with chocolate or other flavors. There are a lot of different nougats out there. In Italy, they call it torrone. In Spain, a nougat is called turrón. The US has a different version made with corn syrup called divinity.
