Today is a special day dedicated to a cookie. Also, it is also a special day of cookies. Today is a day that recognizes a delicious and nutritious cookie. Oatmeal cookies have been around since the 1800s. They quickly became popular and by the early 1900s, a recipe for the delicious treats appeared on containers of Quaker Oats. An oatmeal cookie a day keeps the doctor away. Not only are they delicious, but they contain iron and fiber. That's why they're healthy food! These cookies are just like the regular cookies you're used to. They're easy to modify to your liking with any dry ingredients you'd like, such as raisins and chocolate. The first oatmeal cookie recipe was written in 1896 by Fannie Merrit Farmer. These Oatmeal Cookies are drop Cookies that are made from a soft dough and dropped onto the baking sheet using a spoon.  

National Oatmeal Cookie Day is celebrated annually on April 30th.
