National Organ Donor Day - 2022-02-14
What is National Organ Donor Day?
National Donor Day is a time to focus on all types of donations. Blood and marrow donations are especially important because they can improve or even save lives. This year, consider visiting a blood drive or donor registration event near you. It is also a great time to appreciate donors who have given the gift of life to others, have received a donation themselves, are currently waiting for a transplant, or did not receive an organ in time. When a person dies, they can save the lives of many others with an organ donation. In fact, a single person can save 8 lives and provide organs to 75 other people. The number of people who can donate blood is limited. Only 37% of the population is eligible to donate blood, and only 17% of those eligibles actually donate. However, one pint of blood can save up to three people. If you’ve never donated blood before, you’re part of the majority. We need your help!
