National Pancake Day - 2021-09-26
What is National Pancake Day?
National Pancake Day is the best day of the year. It's an opportunity for all of us to celebrate the most delicious food ever invented. Setting the table, mixing the batter, heating up the griddle, and of course, eating pancakes! Some of the most ancient breakfast foods are also some of the most delicious. Griddle cakes are made by mixing cornmeal with water into a batter that can then be cooked on a hot surface. These cakes have been eaten for more than 30,000 years, making them one of the first breakfast foods ever created. The thin cakes can be rolled and filled with fruit and other fillings. Usually, though, they’re stacked and drizzled with flavored syrup. Add fruit, nuts or whipped topping, too. While served mostly as a breakfast item, pancakes along with bacon, ham, hashbrowns and other morning offerings also make a delicious supper. Breakfast for dinner is a nice change of pace in many homes.
