October is National Pasta Month and October 17th is National Pasta Day. Pasta lovers celebrate! Pasta is a type of noodle. The first reference to pasta dates back to 1154 in Sicily and was first attested to in English in 1874. Pasta is usually made from an unleavened dough of durum wheat flour. The flour is mixed with water or eggs and formed into sheets or various shapes. Pasta is just what you think it is — noodles. They're generally made with a wheat-based flour. The first mention of pasta dates back to the 12th century in Sicily, and the first attestation comes from English in 1874. Pasta can be served right away or dried to be stored for later use.
