Whoops. The pastry is made with a lot of ingredients: flour, sugar, milk, butter, shortening, baking powder, and eggs. The pastry dough is rolled out thinly and then used as a base for different baked products. A few of the more common bakery items include pies, tarts, quiches, and pasties. Bakers create both savory and sweet dishes from the doughs they use. Originally made by the Egyptians, one of the earliest forms of pastry was made by combining flour and water to make a paste-like dough that was wrapped around meat.  

We celebrate one of the world's favored baked goods. On December 9th, National Pastry Day!
