National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day - 2021-12-07
What is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day?
On Pearl Harbor Day, the American flag should be flown at half-staff to honor those that died in the attack on U.S. military forces in Hawaii. Pearl Harbor Day is not a federal holiday and government offices and businesses remain open. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The attack killed 2,403 Americans and injured 1,178 others. It destroyed four battleships and damaged four others. The attack also sunk three cruisers, three destroyers, and one minelayer. Aircraft losses were 188 destroyed and 159 damaged. Each year in the US, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7.
