National Pecan Day - 2022-04-14
What is National Pecan Day?
A special day each year is dedicated to nuts. It’s National Pecan Day on April 14th, and it’s also the favorite snack and ingredient of many Americans. The pecan tree belongs to the hickory family and is native to the southern and central United States. Natives called it a “nut requiring a stone to crack,” but it is actually a nut with a hard shell. Pecans are rich in nutrients such as copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, zinc and vitamin E. They can even help reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels in the blood. Pecans are delicious on their own, but they also look great in other foods. You can use pecans in desserts or salads, or serve them as the main meal. Sweet or savory, they look good with everything.
