Pharmacy professionals are the unsung heroes of the industry. They make sure there is always a supply of medications on the shelves. Let's honor them on October 26th, National Pharmacy Buyer Day. Pharmacy buyers have a big responsibility. They ensure the right medications are available at the right time to treat shoppers and customers. Pharmacists are the men and women who manage medication distribution in hospitals. They keep the shelves stocked with all necessary medications, supplies, and equipment. These specialized buyers shop wholesale markets to secure their orders for the hospital. They are responsible for managing inventory as well as costs for medications. It is a complex role that requires knowledge of the medical system and the ability to balance supplies efficiently. The pharmacy buyer is a key component in the safe supply of necessary medications in local and hospital pharmacies.  

National Pharmacy Buyers Day is observed on the Friday of the last full week of October, usually on the 26th of October.

Beth Meese, former Pharmacy Purchasing Agent for Provena United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville, Illinois, is promoting the recognition of National Pharmacy Buyer Day. The idea for the day came to her in 2005.
