August 1st is Raspberry Cream Pie Day. People who bake the delicious dessert are lucky to have fresh raspberries. If you are fortunate enough to be given a slice of the pie, celebrate the day! Raspberries are the edible fruit of the raspberry plant. They’re in the rose family, but they grow on woody stemmed perennial plants. The thorny stems of raspberries remind you of rose bushes because they are in the rose family. Their genus name is Rubus. A raspberry is basically a bunch of little drupelets. These clusters cling together to form one fruit. The berry has juice and pulp inside, and the exterior is coated with the little drupelets. If you remove the stem or receptacle, there's a hollow space left behind. Eat your pie and know how healthy it is for you. Raspberries are rich in vitamins C, B1, B3, folic acid, manganese, and fiber. They also contain a ton of other vitamins and minerals.
